D1 A1 - Setting Sail

Attribution: Faafaite - Tahiti Voyaging Society

If I were invited to by Nainoa Thompson to go voyaging for three weeks without a refrigerator or freezer, I would bring:
  1. Canned Food (corn, fruit salad, soup and others), because they last long, and only go bad while opened.
  2. Nuts (peanuts, almonds, cashews), because they are healthy and are delicious.
  3. Crackers and Biscuits (without icing), because they can last long and keep your sugar levels stable.
  4. Dry Fruit (apples, banana), because they are a good snack and won't go yuck.
  5. Bread Rolls, because they last a good amount of time.
  6. Meat (preserved in sea salt barrels, portable cooker), because it keeps your protein up, it's delicious and it keeps you strong.
  7. Granola Bars, because they are healthy and usually last a very long time while still in their packages.
  8. Potato chips, because they're delicious and cannot go off unless the bag is open.
  9. Barley Sugars, because they can reduce nausea if you get seasick.
  10. Peanut butter, because it lasts a long time, it's delicious and it's preserved in its packaging.

  1. Hi Amelia,

Good work on explaining specifically why you chose those food items.

I also like how neatly your work structured and how the two photo's display the theme for today's activity.

Hope for the best as you continue working through these activity's.

    Good luck; have fun!

  2. Hey Amelia,

Feels weird going back to post on the very first activity week later (from a previous decade even :) ). As I always end up saying your style looks confidently great and your presentation is on point.

You've got a detailed list of healthy food that would last a great journey and great justifications why they are a good idea. I didn't know that Barely sugars could reduce seas sickness, is that specific to them or a sugar thing?

Anyway, keep up the awesome work and I look forward to when you start posting again.

    Daniel :)
